Prior to departure, Luther students are required to participate in a pre-departure orientation session devoted to reviewing health, safety, and security issues abroad. The Luther Center for Global Learning and Luther program leaders/directors analyze, review, and present as accurately as possible a description of the risks involved with off-campus study. 

Risks in off-campus study, similar to life in general, cannot be completely eliminated. However policies and procedures can be implemented to help manage and reduce risk. The Related Documents section of this page provides details on the types of risks involved in international study and the steps taken by Luther and program participants to manage those risks.
