ArtHaus

ArtHaus is seeking students to work 8-10 hours per week.  Days, weekends, and evenings are all possibilities.  Jobs do not include the creation of personal art, but the space is available out of work hours for this to happen.

2021-2022 positions available include:

Development Assistant - Learn to write grants, put on fundraisers, and manage relationships with donors.

Marketing Assistant- Create posters, press releases, and creative marketing tactics to let people know about ArtHaus services.

Janitorial - Help ArtHaus create a welcoming, easy to utilize environment by keeping pencils sharp, clay wheels clean and floors scrubbed.

Gallery Assistant - perfect for Museum Studies Majors.

Kinderhaus Preschool

Kinderhaus, an outdoor preschool in Decorah, is looking for two amazing students to join our team next Fall! Must have experience working with young children and be CPR/First Aid certified. Hours would be either Monday-Wednesday 2 PM - 5 PM or Thursday - Friday 12-5.  Duties include rest time, small group activities and some food preparation and cleaning. Our school starts August 30th. Decorah Middle School Reading/Math Tutors

Early Childhood and Elementary Classroom Volunteers

The Decorah Community School District is looking for Luther students to assist in early childhood and elementary classrooms at our West Side, John Cline and Carrie Lee buildings.  Volunteers would work individually and in small groups with students as well as occasionally helping with classroom prep.  The district has openings throughout the school day (8-3) for these positions.  Please contact Shanna Putnam Dibble, Elementary Learner Advocate, at [email protected]k12.ia.us with interest or questions. 

Nisse Preschool

Nisse Preschool is looking for a student to help with extended care Monday through Friday from 3:00-6:00 PM.  Extended Care staff would be supervising, interacting, and serving snacks for children ranging from three to seven years of age. Applicants must have a genuine interest in working with young children, be friendly, possess a positive attitude, and be able to follow policies and regulations. Sunflower Child Development Center

Sunflower Child Development Center is looking to hire Luther students as teacher aides starting immediately! Off-campus work study and direct hire part-time hours available. Sunflower Child Development Center is seeking students to serve as Music Teachers and Physical Education (P.E.) Teachers for our center. Students should be available to work once or twice a week at the center for at least two hours. The Humane Society of Northeast Iowa

The Humane Society of Northeast Iowa seeks a hard-working, dependable, animal-loving individual to help with morning dog and cat chores for a total of 6 hours a week, 2-3 mornings and/or evenings per week. Toys Go 'Round Toy Lending Library

Can you imagine a toy library that provides members with over 1000 toys to borrow? Toys Go 'Round is a 25-year-old local, non-profit institution that offers a large variety of fun and educational toys to families, teachers, grandparents, child care providers...and, of course, a lot of excited kids! Seed Savers

Seed Savers Exchange is a non-profit organization with the mission of conserving and promoting America’s culturally diverse but endangered food crop heritage for future generations by collecting, growing and sharing heirloom seeds and plants. Seed Savers Exchange is seeking to fill 1 - 2 positions in the Seed Lab (start date in September).

Seed Lab (1-2 students): If you are interested in working with thousands of seeds this may be for you. Students will have the opportunity to work in the seed lab performing germination tests, conducting seed moisture content tests, inventorying seed samples, and packaging seeds. Additional duties may include sowing seeds, pollinating plants, planting transplants, and light gardening.   A background in biology would be helpful, but not required. Must have reliable transportation for this off campus work study opportunity. The Oneota Film Festival

The Oneota Film Festival is seeking a student to support regular and special events hosted or organized by Oneota Film Festival with possible extension in the spring. A student with skills related to social media and marketing is desired. Duties include creating and distributing event information online and on campus as well as creating new OFF presence in Instagram, Vine, Periscope, and other social media. Northeast Iowa Peace and Justice Center

Northeast Iowa Peace and Justice Center is seeking a food security coordinator. Duties include organizing committees for next Empty Bowls Fundraiser; meeting with, recording, and reporting progress of all committees to NEIPJC supervisory staff; oversee solicitations of donations of soups and breads from local restaurants and bakers and communicate arrangements for delivery; oversee solicitations of bowls from local potters and assist at events that engage the public in making/glazing bowls; create lists of necessary volunteers and work with the Hotel Winneshiek event staff. Qualifications include the ability to engage with people and enjoy it, good organizing skills, be detail oriented, have clear verbal and written communication, maintain basic computer skills and have an interest in food systems. Winneshiek County Recycling

The Winneshiek County Recycling Department has several work study positions available. Basic daily job tasks include material sorting, maintaining production area organization, and frequent interaction with the general public. The facility is open from 6:00 a.m. till 3:00 p.m. Monday through Friday and we will consider running alternative hours to accommodate your class schedules. Several students carpooling together at one time outside of regular class time would work well. Students with Facebook, Twitter, and other electronic and written communication skills are encouraged to apply, too, as we have some opportunities for some of you to participate in the waste reduction education part of the program. This is ideal work experience for Environmental Science majors, but all majors are encouraged to apply. Additionally, students with exceptional computer skills may assist the County Recycling Center with coordinated tasks involving the Winneshiek County IT Dept. The Winneshiek County Recycling Center is located in the Freeport Industrial Park about a mile Northeast of Walmart. Family Literacy Positions

Decorah Community School District has openings for Family Literacy tutors. Opportunities include working in classrooms and/or after-school tutoring for grades Pre-K-8. Winneshiek County Outreach

Iowa State University Extension and Outreach of Winneshiek County is seeking a work-study student during the 2021-2022 school year. The position is intended to help students develop pertinent job skills while also helping to serve Winneshiek County residents.
