Luther College is an academically rigorous place—we're regarded as one of the best liberal arts colleges in the Midwest and annually listed among the best liberal arts colleges in the nation.

Although international students are challenged at Luther, students do not meet this challenge alone. A system of continuous grade reporting coordinated by our Center for Academic Enrichment identifies students who may want help with their classes.

The center arranges for tutors, organizes review sessions before exams, and helps students to develop note-taking techniques and language composition skills.

In addition, students who may have difficulty with written English may be encouraged to enroll in English 110, a courses designed to help students become more fluent, confident, and effective in their reading and writing skills.

Luther CIES Office

Additional support is also provided by the Luther CIES Office. The center provides advocacy and support for international students once they arrive on campus.

The center coordinates the orientation process for new international students, arranges host families for each international student, provides training and support to two international student assistants, and coordinates events and activities that help to complement the academic experience on campus.

A full-time international student outreach coordinator, in cooperation with other individuals and offices on campus, helps to ensure that the international student experience at Luther is both meaningful and fully supported.
