Frequently Asked Questions - Norse Referrals

Can I fill out the referral form for my own child?

As an alum, your connection will already allow your child to receive the Luther Legacy award ($1,000 each year, for 4 years). Therefore, we will look for another Luther alum to be the one to submit your child’s name through the referral program.

Can a student receive more than one referral scholarship?

A student can only receive one referral scholarship, but may be referred by multiple Luther alums! The referral scholarship the student receives will be named after all alumni that refer them to Luther. A student can receive, however, both the referral scholarship and the Luther Legacy Award (given to students with alumni parents).

I know a student who is starting their first year at Luther this fall. Can they still receive this scholarship?

We can't wait for the incoming class to join us on campus this fall! They are, however, not eligible for this new scholarship. Any student you are connected to that will be in junior high or high school can be referred. Students who will be high school seniors this fall must be referred by January 11th.

I’ve referred a student(s). Now what?

We will get to work and contact the student(s) you referred. The student(s) you refer will receive information from our office as their college search continues, as well as communications from the admissions counselor assigned to their area. We hope you will also join in our recruiting efforts by staying engaged in conversation with your student(s) as they continue to explore Luther as an option for their continued education.

I’m interested in being involved in events/activities beyond referring students. What’s my next step?

Call (563) 387-1438 or email [email protected]. Julie Shockey Trytten, Alumni Ambassador Program coordinator, will contact you to talk through ways to best assist with Admissions efforts in your area.
