Weekly Schedule

Students work at their internship sites on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. Each class meets one day per week, usually early evenings. On Wednesdays, students engage in outside activities (Supreme Court oral arguments, visits with experts, meeting with a Holocaust survivor followed by the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, and so forth). Classes are held in the Luther College Washington Semester offices which are located in the same complex where the students live.

Washington Experience Module

Because we think of the program as not only an academic experience but also an opportunity to experience urban life, each student will supplement the internships and course work with a Washington Experience Module (WEM).  Each student will choose one of three emphasis areas: cultural, political, professional.  Each emphasis will provide structured opportunities to help students deepen their understanding of those interests in relation to Washington, D.C.
