Applied Learning

Aristotle makes a distinction between life in the academy, where one pursues theoretical wisdom, and life in the city, where one acts on the basis of practical wisdom. One of the goals of the Political Science Department at Luther College is to help students make connections between the classroom, where we explore ideas and theories of politics, and the city, where we practice politics.

For this reason, the Department of Political Science supports many ways for students to apply their theoretical knowledge in real-world situations. The Department is involved in student internships, Mock Trial, Model United Nations, Washington Semester, and the Pi Sigma Alpha Honor Society.
