PaperCut

Using PaperCut

PaperCut (papercut.lc.luther.edu) is Luther’s print management solution. Whenever a student prints, the job is held in PaperCut, allowing the student to prepare multiple print jobs and release them all at once. Students are given a quota for printing each semester. Employees also use PaperCut, but do not need to interact with the system.Using PaperCut

How to Install Printers

Current students can install Luther printers on their personally-owned devices. See our printing guide. Faculty and Staff should contact the Document Center to have printers installed.

How to Use PaperCut

  1. Print one or more jobs.
  2. Log into at https://papercut.lc.luther.edu/
  3. Navigate to the "Jobs Pending Release" section. Release or cancel individual jobs by clicking "print" or "cancel" next to the job. You can also use the "Release All" or "Cancel All" buttons to work with all pending print jobs at once.
  4. The job(s) will be released and your account charged.

Allowances, Costs, and Refunds

Printing costs $0.05 for a single-sided greyscale page and $0.08 for a double-sided page. Color pages are $0.25 per side. Luther students receive a PaperCut quota every semester which covers the vast majority of their printing needs. The quota is enough to print a minimum of 400 pages in Fall and Spring Semesters, 140 pages in J-Term, and 100 pages in each Summer session. Once the printing allowance has been depleted, students have the option to charge print jobs to their NordiCash. Unused pages are not carried over from semester to semester. Students can check their printing balance at papercut.lc.luther.edu/

Refund Request

On occasion, a print job may be ruined by low toner or a paper jam to produce unacceptable quality. To ask for a refund, locate the print job within PaperCut and click on the "Request Refund" link for that print job. Refunds are generally applied within 3 business days. The Technology Help Desk has final say on whether or not a refund is provided. Refunds are not given for unused pages at the end of a semester.Refunds for jobs printed using NordiCash do not return to the NordiCash balance. Instead, funds remain within PaperCut and will be lost at the end of the semester.

Paying with NordiCash

PaperCut is tied into your NordiCash. Once your quota is depleted, PaperCut charges print jobs to your NordiCash account. NordiCash can be replenished by making payment at the Office for Financial Services during business hours, Monday to Friday. Online NordiCash payments made after hours will be processed the following business day. Refunds for jobs printed using NordiCash do not return to the NordiCash balance. Instead, funds remain within PaperCut and will be lost at the end of the semester.

PaperCut Semester Reports

At the end of each semester and year, ITS will gather data on PaperCut’s usage. Those reports will be made available below.
