Graduates of the Spanish program are well prepared for a variety of careers, including government, international business, health professions, and education. Two other popular post-graduation options are teaching in bilingual programs and teaching English as a Second Language (ESL) in a Spanish-speaking country.

Most Spanish majors complete a second major in another discipline, and strong language skills make our students highly sought by employers and graduate programs. Language skills and overseas experience enhance one’s preparation for virtually any career.

Following graduation, recent Spanish majors have launched careers in business, law, social work, education, ESL, health professions, medical interpretation, and government. Several students pursue ESL teaching abroad after graduation and prior to starting a graduate program. Others spend a year doing volunteer service or internships with organizations like the Peace Corps, Teach for America, Lutheran Volunteer Corps, and Young Adults in Global Mission.
