Information for Transfer Students

To make your transfer to Luther as smooth as possible, please review the following information for new transfer students.

Registration

Students may transfer to Luther at the beginning of fall semester, January Term, or spring semester. Regardless of when you start, here's what will happen:

  • Once you have deposited, a staff member from the Office of the Registrar will contact you by phone to go over your transcript, review next steps, and answer any questions you may have about registration.
  • The Registrar's Office will email you about placement tests needed followed by a second email with the name of your academic advisor. Once you receive that email, you should email the advisor, introduce yourself, and set up a day and time to talk about your registration.

Please Note: Fall transfer students do not attend the Registration, Orientation, and ADvising Day events.

Campus Housing

Luther is a residential college by design. We believe the best environment for learning is one where students not only study and attend classes on campus, but also live on campus.

Upper-class students have a number of residential community options on campus, including college-owned houses, apartments, and townhouses, or clusters and suites in on-campus residence halls.

Welcome Week for New Students

Welcome Week, which takes place between move-in and the first week of class, is for all new students, including transfer students! You'll have an opportunity to engage with faculty, staff, and new students from all around the world. Visit the Welcome Week page for more information.
