Teacher candidates must satisfactorily complete the following in order to be licensed to teach in Iowa and a completer of the Luther Education Program.

Testing

Passing the edTPA (Educative Teacher Performance Assessment) is not required to earn an Iowa license or complete the Luther TEP.  However; Luther does offer support for the edTPA.  Interested candidates should contact Dr. Barbara Bohach.

Advanced Portfolio

Candidate must complete this by the deadline established by the department in order to be considered for licensure.  Candidates electing to complete the edTPA may substitute that for the advanced portfolio.  Contact Dr. Barbara Bohach for more information.

Upcoming ETS Testing Dates at Luther

ETS testing at Luther College has been suspended until further notice due to the Coronavirus.  The safety of our students is our highest priority.

Luther TEP Completer & Out-of-State Licensure

Candidates who successfully complete the TEP qualify for an Iowa teaching license. Usually this is beneficial if seeking licensure in another state. As soon as candidates consider teaching in another state, they should speak with faculty in the Education Department.
