ITS can help you get the equipment you need. The nature of that help depends on your role and what you need:

Students

Advice when buying a device

We can help students understand what kind of device will work well at college and how to get a discount. Learn more at our Personally-Owned Computers and Other Devices page.

Repair

The Technology Help Desk offers students a first-come, first-served Hardware Repair service for laptops and desktops. Work isn’t under warranty and not all repairs are possible, but this is a good first stop if something serious is happening with your computer.

Short-term checkout

At the Circulation Desk in Preus Library, students can check out laptops, headphones, and device chargers for use inside the library. Digital cameras, adapters, and external hard drives are also available and can be taken outside of the library.

Long-term loan

ITS works with TRIO and the Center for Academic Excellence to provide students with laptops for long-term use. If you’re a TRIO participant, stop by the TRIO office or email [email protected]. All other students should complete the Student Request for Loaner Laptop form.

Employees

Assigned workstations

ITS provides equipment to employees depending on the nature and location of their work. Most employees will receive a workstation, either a laptop or desktop. Workstations are refreshed every few years, with a separate cycle for faculty and staff. Employees who need non-standard accessories should make that request through our equipment request form.

Short-term loan

At the Circulation Desk in Preus Library, employees can check out laptops, monitors, iPads, digital video cameras, external hard drives, tablets with detachable keyboards, headphones, webcams, Mobile WiFi hotspots, LCD projectors, presentation clickers, and computer and phone chargers 

Additional equipment

Employees who need additional equipment should fill out our equipment request form. ITS should be involved in all equipment purchases. For software purchases, use our software request form instead.

Employee benefits

Employees enjoy a number of technology related benefits, including hardware and software discounts. The Technology Help Desk is available to employees for general troubleshooting and assistance regarding their personally-owned devices, but doesn’t provide extensive support and repair services.

Used Equipment sale

ITS sells some used equipment that has served its purpose at Luther. Equipment is picked up in Preus Library 221, where payment is made and a disclaimer is signed. We accept personal checks or cash, no credit cards. Payment/pick up is scheduled by appointment only. View available equipment here.
