Admin Rights for Faculty

Separating administrator rights from workstation logins greatly increases Luther’s IT security posture. Temporary admin rights may be requested by contacting the Technology Help Desk or by using the online Self Service interface. The Self Service interface is available to faculty.

Self Service Instructions

  1.  Login to help.luther.edu, select "Downloads" on the left, and choose "Temporary Admin Rights (Windows)" or "Temporary Admin Rights (Mac)" based on your workstation platform.
  2. A script will be pushed to your computer. Click OK when the window appears.
  3. A brief questionnaire will display. Enter the requested information and click Submit.
  4. You will have 60 minutes with administrator rights and the countdown box shown below will display. At this point, you may continue/retry the action that you weren’t able to complete before. You will still be prompted for credentials, but your Norse Key username and password will now function as an administrator account on your workstation. When you are finished, you may close the Admin Rights box.
