High school string students are invited to participate in the Dorian Orchestra Festival where students are placed in one of two orchestras: the Festival String Orchestra or the select Chamber Orchestra. The Luther College Symphony Orchestra performs for the festival participants during the weekend, and the two festival orchestras perform in a Grand Concert on Monday evening.
In addition to ensemble rehearsals, students will also participate in a techniques class and masterclass led by Luther College String Faculty members. Students also have the opportunity to receive a 20 minute private lesson from a Luther College faculty member. This lesson may serve as an audition to be a concert soloist, and it may serve as a music scholarship audition for those seniors interested in attending Luther College.
We hope you'll join us in 2023! The nominations usually open in late October and close in early December.
